The Pecos design has several variations on my patterns page, and this one is named Pecos II. This is a palm handled knife, which means that the handle is just the right size to be nested in the palm of the hand, giving a comfortable, tight grip for this type of small knife. The blade has a slight trailing point for fine work and is made of hollow ground and mirror polished 440C high chromium stainless steel. The blade has a fully tapered tang with full filework, even in the small choil. The knife is bolstered with hand-engraved nickel silver bolsters that are dovetailed and bed a pair of glassy smooth and beautiful dark Blue Tiger Eye gemstone. This gem is called blue because of the dark color, and is Crocidolite and quartz, with striking chatoyancy (cat's eye) light play effects throughout. The knife has an unusual horizontal oriented sheath, which can be worn along the belt line, and the knife is secured with a tightly formed snap flap retention. The sheath is hand-stamped and tooled in basket weave pattern, dyed tan, hand-stitched, lacquered, and sealed.
